Located in the south-east of the United States, Louisiana lies entirely within the Gulf Coastal Plain. It’s bordered by Mississippi on the east, the Gulf of Mexico on the south, Texas on the west, and Arkansas on the north. Home to many distinct cultures, Louisiana is especially notable for the Creole and French-speaking Cajuns. Summers in Louisiana are hot and the winters mild with subtropical characteristics mainly due to the influence of the Gulf of Mexico.
New Orleans is one of the most vibrant cities in America. It is now recovered from after Hurricane Katrina and like Vegas its open 24 hours a day! The Mississippi river flows all the way from Cape Girardeau Missouri through to New Orleans. Many of the works of Mark Twain deal with or take place near the Mississippi River. Twain’s most famous work Huckleberry Finn is largely a journey down the river and anyone who's read a Mark Twain novel knows what it's like to pine for a riverboat ride on the mighty Mississippi. There was a time when the cry "Steamboat a Comin'!" would shake the air and stir the soul. Time to experience the same magical, nostalgic, romantic, patriotic celebration for yourself?
